Fish pond

Fish pond-Hawaiian style

Native Hawaiians for centuries have used fish ponds along the beach to hold fresh fish/seafood brought in by the high tide.  The lava rock wall seen on the horizon of this photo is an example of the efficient and environmentally friendly tradition.  There is no need for preservatives, when a fresh catch is a walk to the beach.  Projects to restore more fish ponds are in progress.
