Golden recommendations

Elvis made 3 movies in Hawaii…..”Blue Hawaii”, “Girls Girls Girls” and “Paradise, Hawaiian Style”.  “Blue Hawaii” is an especially delightful musical with Elvis as the tour guide of Oahu.  The activities on the tour would still be on the list of visitors today.

Also, James Michener’s epic novel “Hawaii” is worth a read or reread.  Michener’s writes history based fiction which appeals to a global audience.  Hawaii’s native history was preserved for years orally through legends, poetry and song.

When considering first impressions of the islands and a historical perspective, “Mark Twain In Hawaii” and “Mark Twain’s Letters from Hawaii” are interesting reading.  Twain was likely the original mainland tourist visiting the islands in 1866.
